Our Flagship Program: Just Us in Detention Facilities
Our original and longest running program is our volunteer-based programming with youth in detention facilities. We craft and execute bi-weekly programming that we conduct in small-group sessions. This program is only open to Just Us members who pass an additional vetting process. Please see our membership page to learn more about becoming a member and applying for this opportunity!
Just Read: Our Multimedia Learning Group
Just Us believes deeply in the power of education as a means for self-betterment, self-empowerment, and self-determination. We created a multimedia learning group in order to further collectively expand our knowledge outside of formal educational spaces. We explore books, essays, short films, and podcasts on a variety of subjects. This program is open to the public. Click here to sign up for the upcoming session!
Our Current Initiatives
Each semester, we implement initiatives that further our vision of a freer and more just world and help to support Black and brown youth flourish. Our members can work on any of our offered initiatives or create and implement their own. Visit our membership page if you’re interested in becoming a Just Us member and learning more about our current initiatives!
Resource Guide
Since our inception, the resource guide has been a way for our volunteers and members to gain a deeper understanding of incarceration, policing, trauma, and more. Over the summer of 2020, we decided to upgrade our one-page PDF into the vast, living, evolving spreadsheet that we have now. The resource guide now covers mass incarceration and policing, community justice and accountability practices, and abolition. This resource guide is free, available to the public, and updated weekly.
